There are times, when you’re aimlessly poking around, you can stumble on something that triggers an idea or inspiration. In this case, it was plunking around with some drum samples when this particular kick & clap combo snapped me into a slow funk groove concept. There are some tracks in the George Clinton - P-Funk cannon that bring funk into a kind of infinite groove where the track goes on for upwards of 10 to 15 minutes and it seems like it could go on forever, without interruption, off into some cosmic black hole. That’s where I wanted to take this piece. It should make you wonder if you even remember it starting and make you give up on hoping for it to ever end. All you’ve got is a groove that won’t quit, never - not ever. It’s a kind of pessimistic funk, perhaps even fatalistic. There is no light at the end of this tunnel. Just more advise from the ghosts.
