Money is a tool, a medium for exchanging value for value. It is not an end in itself. Yet it is regularly treated as an objective end, much to the detriment of society as a whole. The accumulation of wealth for no purpose other than to "have" it is like turning economic potential into antarctic ice. Every social benefit remains locked up and frozen. Worse yet, to play economic games with it in this state creates false value which, when exposed (as is inevitable), causes major economic instability. Money has become an illusion, a ghost which exists only because people believe in it. Change that belief and the system collapses.
